特性：背鰭軟條數：9；脊椎骨：35節。與 H. virgulatus與 H. leptogrammus 相較，此魚缺乏從背部到臀鰭基底的深色條紋；它的上嘴部比下頜些微略突出。與 H. virgulatus 比起來，它從頭部後方到尾鰭基延續不明顯縱向深色條紋。
